LoTi

Well this is totally new to me, although when I was reading the requirements per level I found myself saying "my kids do that" up through level 3.  The same would go for myself.  Having my students create power point presentations, or Excel spreadsheets is absolutely a once a month occurrence and they do not find it to be difficult.  One of the projects that the completed in technology class was creating 3d renderings of a city in the U.S. where they built a house and surrounding areas in a three dimensional world.  Then on a on-line interactive map of the U.S. created locator pins for "their city" which were able to redirect you to an information website about the city when double-clicked.  It was pretty cool to say the least.  This type of computer usage is common in the school, we are also fortunate enough to have the resources to give the students the opportunity to do such things. I enjoyed reading about the LoTi continuum, and found it interesting that students of young ages could be as advanced as a Level 6.  As this class treks on I hope to submerge myself deeper into this new information so I can have the capabilities to be climbing the LoTi ladder.

Once a month, huh? What kinds of things do your students make power point presentations about? And would you say that most of that work is done at home or at school? That is great that you guys do that. I still can't make a proper excel spreadsheet.

The 3D city rendering sounds like it could be quite challenging. What software are they using and what is the objective - is there a curricular goal or is it a focus on learning to use the rendering tool? Also, I was curious about how much time is allotted for the project as well as what kind of computer systems they use. Does this work get any public exposure like on a school web page? -- Terry
